Hi
My question is simple. Do you know of any apps where it's easy to track your progress in resistance training, that is weight training and other training where progress is based on reps and sets. I know there's loads of this stuff but wanted to ask if anyone has stumbled onto something that you don't have guess and swipe your way through a lot of stuff.
Really, any thing goes. How do you track your weights progress?

I don't use an app or any electric methods.
Here is what I do.
I test the exercises I'm doing and write the results down.
Example, leg press. If I can press say 500 pounds for 15 reps, 3 sets, I move the weight up to say 550.
Now, that amount brings my reps down. Maybe I get 15 the first and 14 the second set, but on the third I'm doing 10.
Soon as I can do 15 reps for all 3 sets I write it down and move the weight up.
Now you have a record of your progresses.
On sites like www.bodybuilding.com you can start a body space.
It has a chart for this sort of thing, the supplements you are using, and how much weight you gain or lose, and you can post your pictures as well.
It's accessible.

Thanks for the advice.
This is exactly the sort of thing I want to do. There is a ton of apps with this functionality but I haven't managed to find one that's easy and brainless to use.

I find the best way to move up, is to add smaller amounts. 5 to 10 pounds on all exercises accept legs.
I add 50 on legs, because they have larger muscle.

I didn't think of that before. When I lifted in the past, I'd keep a ental record of what I was doing. I tend not to try to hit every machine in the gym, that is I keep it simply challenging and stick with the free weights. I can't wait to join a gym after I move and give power lifting a try. And I certainly won't give up running. :)

My favorite training saying is "keep is simple stupid."
Smile.
I need to put back on about 15 pounds I've lost being lazy, so am working on it in the winter.

I actually found what I was looking for on the Ios app stor. The app is called Strong and enables you to log your workout routines fairly simply if anyone is interested.

I just did. I was looking for an app to easily log my workouts and track my progress. See previous post.

I mean your actual results after using it for awhile.
Many methods log, but how does it actual work in the real world?
Example, you have to keep it up to date. It that an easy process, or are there lots of things needed to do so?
Okay, I could just try it, right, but I'm interested in your thoughts.

For me not logging my workouts is sort of like trying to lose weight without stepping on the scale. This is possible but your idea of progress will be pretty vague at best. I won't say that there are not other method like simply feeling how you get stronger in everyday life and how many more washing machines you can help people move. I guess I just find all kind of statistics sexy and useful and so really like to be able to log my workouts. That way I can easily tell when my body is adapting to the exercises and so I know to change them. I actually learned to do this when I was training with an strength coach for the Paralympics in Beijing in 2008. He always logged my workouts and could tell me exactly how much better I was doing every time. That way I could see progress almost by day which is sometimes hard to do when you're training for long term goals.

I've downloaded the app and have a few questions. Is there a way to prepopulate your current workout with the weight and reps from your last workout? Right now all I could do is set the default number of sets and reps. I'd like to avoid having to enter the amount of weight for each set if possible. Second how do you get the rest timer to work? I set it to 30 seconds in settings but can not figure out how to activate it.
